Altered Gift Bag

Original Bag

In the last post I said that Mum had bought a plain bag for the engagement gift and asked me to alter it, so here it is!

It's cerise pink and I found it very hard to photograph, it's definately not as bright as the photos show.  As the original bag was too tall (the gift was lost inside it!)  I resized it.  Here's a quick tutorial....

Step 1 - Remove the handles and cut 3" off the top of the bag (or however much you want, to make it smaller)

Step 2 - Mark 3 cms down from the top and score across with a bone folder/embossing stylus and ruler, on the back and front.  You could also use the scoring blade on your trimmer.

Step 3 - Fold along score lines and tuck the top edge in.

Step 4 - Using the cut off piece as a template, mark the position of the holes and punch with a crop-a-dile or hole punch.

Now all that's left is to decorate and add your handles!

I used sizzix dies (again!!) to decorate and some stickles glitter glue for sparkle.

Hope the instructions make sense :)
Thanks for visiting, x

Engagement

An engagement card today.

I used pink card from the Paper Mill, green bazzill card, a Unity heart stamp, ribbon and small button from Poppicrafts and some stickles glitter glue to add some sparkle.  The 'love' stamp is Clear Expressions (I think!)

I think it could also be used as a Valentines card....

I was to make a bag to put the gift in as well but the bag was a little too narrow, so Mum bought a plain bag and I'll decorate it.

Thanks for visiting :)

Scripture card

This card is for a friend who is unwell and has had a lot of treatment in the past and is attending hospital again for more tests. Mum and Dad are visiting her and her family this weekend and I'm sending this to let her know we're thinking of her.

Again it's made with Kraft card!  The designer paper is K&Co, ribbon is from Forgetmenot Papercrafts in Belfast and the flowers are Papermania silk. The sentiment is a clear stamp from sweetnsassystamps stamped with brown dauber duo and heat embossed with clear detail powder.

Thanks for visiting!

Ps Sweet n Sassy stamps are discontinuing their clear stamps and going digi so all the stamps will be on sale soon.

Birthday card - Male variety!

Hi again!

I made this card very quickly yesterday so that Richard could catch the last post at 4 o'clock. It's for my Father-in-Law's birthday today, so I hope he gets it in time.

The patterned paper is Basic Grey and the blue card is DCWV.  I distressed the edges with Tim Holtz distress ink - 'old paper' and stamped the bicycle image (Unity Stamps) using 'frayed burlap'.  I stamped the image again and cut out the wheels and seat.  Coloured the seat with 'fired brick' and popped it and the wheels up with foam pads.

Chipboard Mini Desktop Calendar

This is the Desktop Calendar I taught at a craft class in December.  It is white chipboard cut out with the Sizzix Originals Die - File Folder #2 .  The stand is chipboard folded in half and covered with cardstock.  I loved making this but I still haven't got round to putting all my photos in it and Mum's still waiting on hers....

Bag made with Kraft cardstock & decorated using Sizzix die cuts

Front of Bag
Back of Bag
Clipboard Tag
Close up of layered flower

Lately, I've been using Bazzill Kraft cardstock more and more when Im crafting for I think it's a great base for using any colour/pattern on it.  So I've been trying out my new Sizzix dies (which I love!) and when I made this bag using two 12" x 12" sheets of cardstock, I decorated it by layering the die cuts on it.  The clipboard tag is cut from chipboard and the 'For You' is cut out with the Sizzlets decorative strip alphabet die- Monde de Blonde. The pink beads (Paper Cellar) were threaded on a length of string and used to tie the tag to the bag.  The flowers on the back of the bag were cut from white card with the Sizzlets decorative strip die - Flowers, Loopy.

Thanks for stopping by:)

Belated Happy New Year! + Teacher's cards and Gifts

Hi!  I haven't had much time lately to update this blog.... Hope you all had a Great Christmas and will have a Very Happy 2010.

We had a lovely Christmas although Phoebe had a perforated ear drum a few days before it, but seeing her presents cheered her up :)
We've been confined to the house for a couple of weeks with all the ice and snow but DHL were still able to deliver a parcel today....it was Sizzix dies from the mega sale sizzix.co.uk had over Christmas, so I have some lovely new dies to play with :)

Before Christmas I said I would post photos of the presents/cards I made for the teachers, so here are some of them.  I stamped the clear bags with various snowflake stamps using Stazon white ink (I originally used Elzybells white ink but it was taking too long to dry and smudged easily so I went back to using Stazon).  I made the sour cream cartons with double sided paper, sealed each end with tape and crimped them with a Woodware paper crimper.  Then punched 2 holes in the top and tied a label on with ribbon.

I'll be back soon with some photos of the Desktop Calendar we made at a class in December.

Ps. The sour cream containers were filled with sweets :D
