The finished baby patchwork quilt!

If you'd like to make this quilt, there is a fabulous tutorial here. It is very well written and so easy to follow (even for a mathmatically challenged person like me!) I'll let you in on a secret - Lydia had to work out the measurements for me (I'm that bad at maths). In the tutorial Florence used 12 fabrics but I only had 6 - it would make for easier laying out the more you have. 

Provided my sister-in-law likes it, it will be winging it's way to Australia soon.  They are expecting a little girl after having 3 boys and we are so delighted for them.

Ps. I should have said it was very quick to make - just 2 days!

In my haste to make it though, I sat up very late on Monday night (nearly cross-eyed) completing the top, and when I got up on Tuesday morning (5 hours later)

- oh my word -

it was like a dogs dinner, not a straight line to be seen :( ....so Mum and I ripped out all the blocks and I started again. I finished it last night but I've learnt my lesson...I won't be sewing late at night again!

New fabric for a baby quilt

Loving this fabric!

Some of you may know that I started learning patchwork quilting last September and made a lap quilt (which I will share soon).  I love sewing as much as I love papercrafting so I'm trying to divide my time between both.  I was fortunate enough to get a fabulous sewing machine for my (40th) birthday in November and it's a pleasure to sew with :)

Mum asked me to make a baby quilt (such confidence in me not to mess it up... lol) and this is the material she chose, it's by Michael Miller and is so lovely in real life.  I have just finished the quilt tonight and will photograph it tomorrow to share on my blog. I like it so much I don't want to give it away!

Exciting News!

I am soooo excited......

I have been invited to join the lovely ladies on the Design Team at Creative Craft World (CCW)
How could I not accept such an offer...... :)

I hope you will check it out and join in with the fab challenges every month.

CCW has also just launched a new Mini Challenge which can be anything you like (a card, tag, mini book, scrapbook page etc) so long as it's smaller than 12x12.


And now back to earth....today's card is ...
A birthday card  for a wee friend of Phoebe's. The image is a Penny Black stamp - I love the spotty little toadstools. It's coloured with copics and a sprinkling of glamour dust added to her wings.

I tied the bow near one end of a length of ribbon and wrapped it around the card (that's why there's no ends hanging) I don't know why, but when my children see the ends on a bow they are itching pull them.  Maybe no-one else's does......

The number '5' is cut from funky foam using a Cuttlebug alphabet set - 'Red Tag Sale' and the word 'TODAY' is cut from a Tim Holtz decorative strip die - Chip Block.

Baby Boy card - a little Onesie

A baby card to share today...

Another Cameo creation.....have I said how much I love this machine??... lol

The onesie (poppered vest in the UK!) cutting file is from Silhouette America with a few wee bits of my own added on. What I love most about the Cameo is that once you have a card designed (or anything) it is so easy to cut out more in different colours, without a lot of hard work.... anything to make life easier!

A box for the baby present, made with 2 sheets of 12"x12" bazzill, dotted swiss card.  For some reason these photos make the ribbon look lilac ~ I know I definitely used baby blue ribbon!

A personalised name tag just to finish off. (layers cut with the Cameo) 

I had hoped to start the new year by joining in with the Less is More challenge this week, but the week went past too fast!  Still there's always the new challenge tomorrow.....  :)

Scrapbook page - Echo Park papers

Hello again! wow that week went quickly!

I'm back with something a little different for me....I've tried to make a 12x12" layout.
It's something I've always  been scared of - so much space on the page! although I did love going to Judith Eldon's scrapbook classes. It's so much easier when you're told what to do, isn't it?   :)

I've used the January Scrap Map from Creative Craft World's challenge blog here.

 The paper is from the Echo Park - Winter Park Collection from here.  The little 'snowballs' on the string are from Tesco's sale last year. I added a hidden journalling tag behind the picture for extra little details. The photograph is my little rascal Caleb, just after he had thrown a snowball at me and his daddy preparing to pelt me with another one! 

These little mittens were cut out with the Cameo.  I cut the snowflakes from the blue card and then layered them on white card.  I sponged around the mittens and cuffs with TH weathered wood distress ink.

 The title is also cut with the Cameo from red card.  I used a glue pen and Glamour dust to add (hopefully!) an icy sparkle.

Altered wedding photo album

Hello again! This is the wedding album I made to go with the card from yesterday.  The flower paper is Bo Bunny - Alissa and the spot paper is Doodlebug. The bracket is cut from black card using a Tim Holtz on the edge die and the words 'Our Wedding' are cut with the Cameo (dear joe font). To cover the join in the papers I used white seam binding and baker's twine. The little flower is punched with SU's Boho blossoms punch and a little Papermania button added to the centre.
I forgot to take a picture of the album before I started but it was similar to the one at the bottom of this post here .

I made a box for the album with 2 sheets of 12x12" white card using the Woodware groovy duo scoring board (it's brilliant for making boxes).

The title and scrolls were cut with the Cameo and the box is tied with Baker's twine. The flowers are punched with SU Boho blossoms punch and a tiny pearl added to the centre.

You wouldn't believe how quiet it is here today, the children are back to school (not too happy about it either) and Richard's back at work....it's a little bit lonely!  Ah well, it'll not be for long :)

Yesterday while clearing the study I found some lovely stuff I'd forgotten about so I'm off to finish the study first and then have a wee play.

Wedding card using a digi stamp

Good morning!

It's Richard's last day off work so I'm making the most of having him at home and getting him to help me clear out the study.  I used to craft in there but outgrew it and moved to the garage. Unfortunately it's the remnants of my craft stuff that are clogging it up (probably stuff I don't even need!) but I can't let him know that.... You know it needs doing when you find your daughter doing her homework on the floor!

A wedding card

This lovely little Henry and Zoe image is from Digistamp Boutique and it's coloured with Copics.  To frame the image I embossed a line around the card with a scoring board.  The senitment is computer generated - Elephant Hiccups font, and cut out with the Cameo.

It's hard to see in the photo but there's Glamour dust on the flowers, bottom of the bride's veil and around the Just Married sign (which is also paper pieced to add dimension).
