Teacher Gift and handmade bag

There's a lot of photos....

Covered chocolate bar

Covered Notebook

Altered Bag

Scrunched Flower

Caleb's teacher has been off school for a couple of months and we didn't think she would be back before the end of term but he came home from school on Friday and said she would be there on Monday!

I didn't have a gift for her (and because Caleb likes her so much) I had to rustle this up very quickly at the weekend. I didn't have time to make a bag but I had some plain brown paper bags and altered one with matching papers. The back of the bag is the same as the front without the flower.

I used the same paper and die cuts that are listed in yesterday's post :)

Take care and thanks for stopping by today!

End of Term ~ Teacher Gifts

It's hard to believe it's the end of June and that also means end of term here in Northern Ireland :) Yippee!

These are the cards and gift bags I made for Phoebe's teacher and Nursery assistant.

bag cut from template

bag cut with the Craft Robo
The paper is K&Co Carolyn Gavin Greenhouse collection (I love all the little pink apples!)  The sentiments were all computer generated.  The die cuts are made with Sizzix and Cuttlebug dies cut with the Cuttlebug and the little bag above is cut out with the Craft Robo. The card to match was cut out using the Sizzix bigz clear scallop die. The scrunched flowers were made using the nestabilities blossom dies. - I don't know what I'd do without my Cuttlebug!!

Stamps used ~
Penny Black - little girl
Wendy Vecchi - alphabet
Inkadinkado - ticket

Thanks for stopping by today ~ Check back tomorrow for Caleb's teacher's gift.

It's Father's Day

This is the card Lydia gave to her Dad.  Caleb and Phoebe decided to make their own card without interference from me!!

The base card is Bazzill kraft cardstock,  the designer paper is Dovecraft and some plain brown card from the Paper Mill.  The sentiment is cut out of kraft card with the Craft Robo and sponged with Frayed Burlap distress ink.  The edges of the matted pieces of card are all distressed with the Xcut distressing tool and turned up slightly at the edges.  The chipboard star is cut with a Sizzix die using the Cuttlebug, then covered with a scrap of the Dovecraft paper and fine string tied around it. I then added some buttons and inked the edges of the base card with distress ink.  Very quick to put together!

This is the card the two wee ones made.  The only thing I was allowed to do was tie the bow in the centre.  It now has pride of place on the mantelpiece Daddy is so pleased with it!

Wishful thinking....

Sketch FTL95
Another gorgeous sketch this week from Natasha at the Clean & Simple stamping blog :)  This is FTL 95.
When I made this card Lydia said "Who's it for?" so it just goes to show I'm in the habit of just making cards when I have to!

This time though I made it just for fun.  The stamps were on my desk, the scrap paper nearby, a great sketch and no pressure of a deadline :)  I am tempted though to set it up for a day or two and everytime someone wants something, I'll just point to it......(I think there'd be quite a few whinges!)

Card - White, Yellow
DP - Bella BLVD~Pack your bags
Stamps - Hampton Art~Bon Voyage
Inks - Stazon~Black, ColorBox Chalk~Lipstick Red
Ribbon from stash
Punch - Martha Stewart Embossed Zig Zag

Enjoy your day!

Sizzix swirl and handmade flower

I made this card for my Mother-in-Law's birthday next week.

I cut the swirl with a Sizzix Bigz die using white mountboard and then sponged it with Distress Inks (Bundled Sage & Victorian Velvet)  I also cut an oval with a cuttlebug die using the same method.  The little sentiment is stamped using a studio G stamp and Timber Brown Stazon ink. The flower is made the same as the one I have on a bag here.  I then added some small pearls just to finish it off.

Thanks for visiting :)

Altered Notebooks

Original plain pink notebook

Notebook with green down the side

Birthdays again!

It's two of Lydia's friends' birthdays and they're just a day apart.  She was to bring the gifts to school today but she stubbed her toe yesterday and after a quick x-ray at hospital this morning it shows she has fractured it!  Looks like she'll be a bit late with the presents :(

I found these little notebooks in Tesco a long time ago and I wish I had bought more.  They are a lovely size (slightly bigger than A6) and are perfect for altering.

Cardstock - DCWV green, plain white, plain pink
Designer paper - K&Co Greenhouse, Papermania Designer Card (using the front cut off)
Stamps - Unity, Kaisercraft
Ink - Versacolor Opera Pink
Whispers pens - pink, black (for doodling)
Ribbons - Fuschia, pink spot organza
Die cuts - Papermania butterflies
Punch - Medium Retro Flower EKS
Gems & Stickles glitter glue

Have a lovely day! x

Boy's Birthday Card

Birthday card with the party invitation I used underneath it.

Raised hat, belt, shoes, flag and sail

Caleb's been getting quite a few invitations to his friends' birthday parties and I have to admit to buying some of the cards instead of making them :< However, when this invitation came in I just knew I had to make a card - I couldn't resist that little pirate!

To make it, I photocopied the invitation onto white cardstock (twice) and cut around the pirate and the ship.  On the second image I just cut the hat, belt, shoes, flag and sail. On a white 12x12 card blank I stamped anchors (woodware stamp set) with Baby Blue chalk ink.  On a scrap of white card I stamped the sentiment in Black stazon ink and inked the edges with blue.  On white card I used a ruler and fine black pen to draw dashed lines along the edges. This card was then matted onto blue card with some red grosgrain ribbon in between.  I added the smaller pieces of pirate to the main image with foam pads for a 3D effect then glued the finished pirate to the white/blue card. You can't see it in the photos but I added glossy accents to the hat, belt, jacket, socks and portholes on the ship.

Thanks for stopping by today x

Wedding Acceptance

Butterfly with stickles glitter glue on the wings

Mum and Dad are still in Australia and a Wedding Invitation has arrived for them (I'm keeping an eye on their mail!) so Mum has asked me to make and send an acceptance card to the bride.  I've kept putting it off (hadn't a clue what to make) but now the deadline is getting close I just had to do it.

I think I have a pink/green theme running in my cards at the minute :o

The butterfly and swirls stamps are from Unity Stamp Company.  The inks I used are Bundled Sage & Spun Sugar distress inks and the sentiment is computer generated - Kayleigh font.  I rounded all the corners of the card with the WRMK corner rounder 1/4".  After stamping the butterfly and cutting it out I rounded the wings slightly under and lifted them up. To add some glitz I added a small amount of Star dust stickles on the flower pattern.  The ribbon is ivory organza tied in a small knot and I finished the card with some small pearls.

Thanks for stopping by today!
Sarah xx

Ps. Mum ~ Hope the card is suitable!!

Hello again!

I'm sure you all think I've left the country, it's been so long since I last posted anything!
I have been busy with the children, sorting out my craft space with more storage (long overdue!) and making/finishing off bits and pieces.

I'm sure you're fed up looking at these bags but I'm showing this one because I love it (it was really hard to part with!) The paper is Basic Grey and the scallop top was made using a 'Colour my World' template.  I got my templates from the Paper Mill shop and I really love them. Sometimes I find the scallops on punches just a little too small and they get lost on patterned paper.

Colour my World Templates with an edge by Jayne Bentley
I'm loving distress inks at the minute and using them on everything!  The top of the bag is  white card inked with a combination of Antique Linen, Spun Sugar and Victorian Velvet.  I also inked the edges of the bag after I had added the top.  The flower I made following a tutorial by Vicky .  Because I was using distress inks, I started with thin white card and as I don't have those punches I used scallop nestabilities in 3 different sizes.
After I'd inked the card pink ,I stamped it again with a music stamp in Victorian Velvet.  The card was too thin to separate the edges so I just crumpled it while the ink was still damp.  I think the scallop edges give a lovely heart shape to the petals after they're snipped!  The swirls are white chipboard cut with a sizzix die and inked with Sage/Victorian Velvet distress inks.
The 'thank you' tag is computer generated and cut out with Nestabilities Label 4 die and the edges inked.  Finally after all that, here's the bag.......
