Rosie by Digistamp Boutique

Hello again!

It's so easy to neglect your blog when life gets busy, isn't it?

My poor wee daughter is only back to school two weeks and is off sick already.
She had a miserable night on Wednesday so I kept her off school on Thursday and Friday as she really wasn't fit to go.
At the beginning of the week she was invited to go to her wee friend's birthday party, which was today and she was adamant that she was going.
'But you're not fit', I said.
'Oh I am mummy', was the reply. 'I'm as fit as a fillet!'

Needless to say, she got going to the party with a pocket full of tissues, and had a whale of a time.
So it's back to school on Monday!

Here's the card I made for her wee friend Rosie.

I know this card is pink, pink, pink!
But I deny all responsiblity for it, lol....Phoebe chose everything and I just coloured the image.
I have no idea what make the papers are, I bought them years ago from Poundstretcher when they used to do scrapbooking kits.

She wanted Rosie from Digistamp Boutique and she wanted her to have blond hair to match her friend :)

The little crown is a brad from Making Memories and Phoebe has been begging to use it every time we craft, so you can imagine her delight when we were able to put it on Rosie's head!

The number '6' is cut with a Cuttlebug die 'Red tag sale' and I raised it on foam pads. The name 'Rosie' is stamped with Regal Rose SU ink using Elzybells alphabet stamps.
The ribbon is Dovecraft.

That's it for tonight!
I'm off to bed with a hot toddy (Lemsip, honey & whisky)...I think I've caught Phoebe's bug :(

I hope you're all having a relaxing weekend
and thank you for joining me here.
I'm so sorry I haven't got caught up with commenting yet but there just aren't enough hours in the day to fit everything in...
I will catch up with you soon though :)

Take care,
Sarah xx

21st Birthday

Hello again :) There has been a distinct lack of posts here this week!
It's been really busy here, but here's hoping next week will be a bit easier..... :)

For the Less is More challenge this week we've been given a recipe. The choice is to combine any 3 past challenges. The ones I've chosen are - week 15 embossing, week 43 bling, week 55 die cuts.

I've made this card (which will be from Mum & Dad)  for my niece who will be 21 next week...
it seems no time since she was born... and I was only 19!

Edited:  oops! I've just realised I made a mistake in the spelling of granddaughter.... I've printed it again on card and taped it over the top.....not ideal but it's better than bad spelling lol.  This first photo is updated but I don't have time tonight to change the second.

It was very simple to make (so why did it take me all day??)
I printed the sentiment on the computer - patient paige font. The frame, number and crown were cut with the Silhouette and the paper is American Crafts - City Park.

I embossed the frame with the Cuttlebug swiss dots folder and raised it on foam pads then added iridescent gems on the crown to finish!

I was at a machine quilting class yesterday learning how to apply applique
and then embroider it.
It was a fun class and the tutor was brilliant.
This is what I made, although it is far from finished!

When the wadding is added and it is quilted I will have to decide if I'm going to make it into a cushion cover or keep adding more blocks to make a larger quilt.

It looks really dull and flat in the photo but I'll add a new one when I've finished and hopefully it will look much better :)
The back of it shows the stitching....can you see the missing bits.....!

In January I started a country style flannel quilt ('old fashioned' as Caleb called it!)
I've finally finished it :) hours of hand stitching later and here's a wee peek.....

I'll post 'proper' pictures of it later in the week.

Thank you for visting today :)
I'm off now to see what everyone else is up to.....lots of entries in LIM already!

Exciting News!

I'm a little late posting this but I hope you'll forgive me (I've had a tummy bug this weekend)

Oh....my news!

I am soooo excited......

I have been invited to join the lovely ladies on the Design Team at Creative Craft World (CCW)
How could I not accept such an offer...... :)

I hope you will check it out and join in with the fab challenges every month.

CCW has also just launched a new Mini Challenge which can be anything you like (a card, tag, mini book, scrapbook page etc) so long as it's smaller than 12x12.

And now back to earth....today's card is ...
A birthday card  for a wee friend of Phoebe's. The image is a Penny Black stamp - I love the spotty little toadstools. It's coloured with copics and a sprinkling of glamour dust added to her wings.

I tied the bow near one end of a length of ribbon and wrapped it around the card (that's why there's no ends hanging) I don't know why, but when my children see the ends on a bow they are itching pull them.  Maybe no-one else's does......

The number '5' is cut from funky foam using a Cuttlebug alphabet set - 'Red Tag Sale' and the word 'TODAY' is cut from a Tim Holtz decorative strip die - Chip Block.

I'd like to say a quick 'Hello' to my new followers, it's lovely to see you :)

Thanks for visiting today and that's it until tomorrow :)

...ANOTHER 2 months and some sock monkeys!

Hello everyone!

The blog scheduling went well, didn't it......! lol

I can tell you that in between looking after sick children, I have managed to do a little papercrafting and sewing , just not got it posted yet.  Here's a few of the cards and some sock monkeys:

For this card I used the Long Fellows hostess set from Stampin' Up and the sentiment was coloured using Stampin' Up markers (I love them!) The balloon is a cuttlebug kids die cut, embossed with the swiss dots folder and edged with stardust stickles.

I used an Elzybells stamp for this card and the spotty paper is doodlebug.

I made this bag ages ago and found the photos when transferring them from one computer to the other.  I used adhesive backed funky foam for the embellishements and cut them out using the Cuttlebug 'Olivia' die set.

My Mum went to Australia for 6 weeks in September and I made these sock monkeys for her to take to my little nephews.  I made the hats from Ikea's fleece blankets.

This was the first monkey I made for them but it turned out a bit girly, so Phoebe claimed it!

At the minute I'm decorating a wooden advent calendar and I'd better get a move on since the first day will be tomorrow!  I'll post pics of it as soon as I can and also pics of the mini book I gave a sneak peek of, in the last post.

I'll try and be back soon, thank you for bearing with me  :)

Digistamp boutique digi stamps - Monsters

Good morning!

I bought these digi stamps a while ago thinking they would be perfect for a little boys card and the opportunity came to use them last week.  Our Caleb was invited to his best friend Caleb's party on Saturday.  They were born 5 days apart, are in the same class at school and sit at the same table!

Glossy accents on the eyes, teeth and number 7

 The decorated envelope

I printed the monsters on white card, coloured them with Koh-i-noor pencils and matted the card onto black.
The sentiment was computer generated using WordArt (grutchline & awakening fonts), cut in a rectangle and matted onto black card.
The number 7 is die cut using a Cuttlebug 'Olivia' die and then I used gossy accents on it, the eyes and the teeth of the monsters.

For once I wasn't last minute making the card and had time to decorate the envelope too with another little monster.

Thank you for stopping by and for all your lovely comments, they're much appreciated :)
Also hello to my new followers - lovely to see you!

Thinking of you, using a digital image

This card is for my Aunt whose husband passed away this time last year and I hope it will give her some comfort to know we're thinking of her.

I used linen card for the base and rounded the top right hand corner.
I printed the sentiment (Jellyka CuttyCupcakes font) on spare card and embossed it along the left edge using a craft concepts embossing folder and the Cuttlebug.
Then I tied pink satin ribbon along the edge of the embossing and rounded the TRH corner of it as well.
I printed the two roses image from A Passion for Stamps and coloured it with Copics.

I have finally managed to do something today that will make cutting out a whole lot easier!!  I can now print and cut with my Craft Robo (only took me 2 years to do it.....) lol
So the Robo cut the roses out in no time :)

I rolled the edges of the roses over a pencil to round them slightly and to give a little dimension. I used pinflair gel to glue them to the card and added 3 tiny pearls.

I hope you all had a lovely Easter ! We went to the beach (Richard and me wearing coats lol) on Easter Monday and it was beautiful.

We had our first paddle in the freezing sea but when the sea came in higher than anticipated, Richard got his trousers soaked :) Hilarious!!! - though we had to go and buy him new jeans! Next time I'll pack spare clothes for him as well as the children.

Freezing wet legs!

Christmas cards

These are some cards I've made for a friend who is having a card sale and donating the money to charity.

I'm just making family Christmas cards this year for I don't have time to make general ones. I also have to make the teachers' gifts and cards too and I will post them when they're finished :)

Thanks for stopping by today!

Cards using Lili of the Valley stamps

I am loving Lili of the Valley stamps :)  I think they're really cute and lovely to colour in.
The papers on this card are from the Dovecraft christmas pack (not sure what it's called....)
and the image is coloured in with Copics.  I'm realising I should be making a note of the colours I use so I'll be doing that in future :)

This is a birthday card for my little nephew Oliver who was 6 yesterday :) It's another Lili of the Valley stamp
and the papers are 3 Bugs in a Rug (snips & snails I think...)

Better run, I'm going to the Christmas Craft Fair in The Argory (National Trust House) today and I should have been ready ages ago!  Will post again soon with Christmassy things:)

Thanks for visiting today

Apologies

I am so sorry I haven't been updating my blog.  I haven't been feeling very well (my haemoglobin has dropped again) though I have been able to make a few things (in between naps!) I just haven't been able to upload them.  I'm going to try and post a bit more regularly from now on :)  Thank you to all who have stuck with me!!

Here's a quick little card using dry embossing, stamping and punching.

The flowers/leaves along the bottom are embossed using a Cuttlebug embossing folder.  The designer paper is MME Bloom & Grow and I punched the flowers from it using different sizes of EKSuccess retro flower punches. The flowers were then layered and held together with an orange brad.  The leaves are punched with a Woodware grass punch and the Just Because stamp is by American Crafts.

Thanks for visiting :)

Have a Happy Day

I'm late again for the Clean and Simple sketch this week!  Here is FTL 103

and this is what I made

I love these little birds :)

The stamps used are Unity and I used Stampin Up's Stamp-a-ma-jig to place them.  The folded paper down the side is by Daisy Bucket and the string in the button is coloured with Victorian Velvet distress inks to match the sentiment.

The background of the card is embossed with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder and inked with Pumice Stone distress ink. The birds are coloured with distress inks as well.

Have a lovely day :)

Card gone wrong....

Hi again!

Well, after thinking I was going to get lots of craft time this week the opposite happened!  There's always something else to take priority, but I did get lots done even if it wasn't crafting.

I made this card on Tuesday but I didn't like it :p

I took the flower off, covered the top white part of the card with the reverse side of the blue paper and made this....

I had coloured and cut out this little image a few weeks ago when I was playing with the copics.  She is coloured using the blender pen and a little colour from the nib of the pens (just to give a lighter effect)

I think she's a lovely match for this double sided paper which was in my scrap drawer. (I think it might be 3 Bugs in a Rug?)   The background die cut is cut with a Nestabilities blossom die which I then kept in the die after cutting out and used Tim Holtz distress ink - Victorian Velvet - to colour it in.

The sentiment is computer generated - Pea Stacey Tunibug font - and cut with Nestabilities Labels Trio dies and coloured the same as the other die cut.

The flowers are Prima e-line and Kaisercraft. The rock fern punch is by EK Success.

Thanks for looking in today, have a great weekend :)

Baby Boy Photo Album

I made this for Mum to give as a baby gift but she didn't like the lower case 'd'!  I don't have capital letters for this set of Sizzix dies so I cut a capital 'D' from the Cuttlebug 'Groovy Chick' dies and put it on instead.  (I didn't have time to take a photo - but I think I prefer it with the lower case anyway ;)

I made the chipboard buttons by cutting just the circle of the question mark on this Sizzix die.  Then punched two 1/8" holes in it with the cropadile and tied some embroidery thread through it.

The elephant is another Sizzix die, cut from chipboard and paper pieced.  His eye is a white pearl, coloured with a black copic marker.  I added green thread behind his trunk to look like water spraying.......but it looks more like grass. lol

The children are going to Bible Club this week so I will have 3 whole hours to myself every morning!  Lots of craft time and I hope to make the most of it and get some mini books finished :)

Thanks for stopping by today.

Another sketch challenge

It's time for another sketch challenge FTL101 from the Clean and Simple Stamping blog :)

To attach the flowers to the card,  I tied the ribbon around the patterned paper first and threaded it up through all 3 flowers. Then just tied it in a little bow and finished with a pearl.

I wanted to add some texture to tag, so I raised it up in the middle and glued it down at each end.  I didn't have a large pale grey flower (plenty of white ones though!) I took one of those and coloured it with a grey Copic marker.

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you have a great day :)
