Rainbow Blog Hop with Creative Craft World

Good morning everyone!

Today it's my turn to share a project in our Rainbow Blog Hop
at Creative Craft World.
The reason for the blog hop is, it's the 6th birthday of  the shop on the 6th!

Blog hopping is all totally new to me so I hope you'll bear with me as I try to get the details right.....

My colour as part of the rainbow is Violet and I used these gorgeous papers from Echo Park
(springtime collection)

Maybe I should start with my project and give you all the info at the end?

I started with a plain wooden 'bingo board' and painted it with gesso.
Next I took a sponge and inked the edges with seedless preserves distress ink.

Then I applied wet glue all over front of the board and adhered the spot paper, trimming the edges with a craft knife and sanding the edges.  I traced around the 'clip' part of the board on violet paper and cut the outline before gluing to the top of the board.  I covered the join in the two papers with patterned paper.

I covered the back of the board with matching violet paper.

For the notebook I took a narrow jotter and removed the front cover.
Taking striped paper I cut it to size across the width and 2.5" longer at the top which I wrapped over and taped at the back.
I tied some green tulle around the cover and finished with a button which was threaded with twine.
I added punched butterflies and raised the wings with my favourite pinflair glue gel and a sparkly trail.

The cover is double sided so it's just as pretty on the inside!

The word notes is cut from co-ordinating green paper with Cuttlebug 'red tag sale' dies and I brushed a white paint dabber across the board a few times before sticking them down.

The little metal clip at the top for hanging

and now for the blog hop details

By this stage if you're following the hop we are on day 7 and you should already have hopped across 6 projects
but here's a reminder just in case you've come to mine first...
There's still time to take part (if you're new to it)

1. Red - Susi
2. Orange - Sarah W
3. Yellow - Michelle
4. Green - Trish
5.Blue - Ali
6. Indigo - Sue

and tomorrow, the final day - you need to visit Lou's blog
to find the POT OF GOLD at the end of the rainbow!

There are a few things you need to do to be in with a chance to win:

1. You need to visit each of the blogs listed above and leave a comment
2. Then visit Creative Craft World's blog and become a follower (if you're not already)

as a thank you for leaving a comment on mine I'd like to offer one too.

I am giving away the clipboard and notepad to one of my lovely followers!
(new followers will be included too but please only follow if you like my blog)

Altered Paperchase notebook

Good Morning!

I'm nipping a few minutes at the computer before I have to get the children ready for school.....

This little project is a mini notebook from Paperchase
and I covered it with paper from CCW's June kit.
The jar was cut from the papers and I added glossy accents to the hearts.
I coloured the AC Thickers with a Copic marker and wiped off the excess with kitchen roll.
Then layered it on a strip of vellum.

This is the plain notebook .
I removed the black elastic as I thought it would be too stark against the paler papers.

To replace the black elastic,
I measured a length of white 3mm elastic (from Tesco's sewing section) and stapled the two ends with TH mini staples.

Hope you have a great day
Take care :)

Ps. Phoebe's sports day stayed dry until the last race, yay!

Hi everyone :)

It's my eldest daughter Lydia's birthday today and this is the card I made. I discovered this little image over at Tiddly Inks and I think she's a wee cutie.  The papers I used for the card are, Echo Park - playground.

I used the leftover scraps to cover this little notebook

For the  butterfly, I covered chipboard with spotty paper and cut it out using this Tim Holtz movers and shapers die in the Bigshot

Just a quick post for today but I'll be back tomorrow with my project for the Creative Craft World mini challenge - it's a mini book :)

Thank you for stopping by today!
See you soon

Covered notebooks and Clipboard calendars

Good morning :)

I have to apologise for the state of these photos!!! I had been so busy making the books I didn't have time to take decent pictures of them and Richard took these ones while we were getting ready to go to the craft fair at our local primary school.   The first pictures are of little kraft coloured notebooks and pen sets which I covered back and front with various designer papers.  I think I mostly used Cosmo Cricket, October Afternoon, Doodlebug & My Minds Eye papers.
The die cuts on the front of each book (apple, hearts, strawberries, mushrooms, flowers, squares & circles) were all cut out with the Sizzix Big Shot using a mixture of Sizzix, Cuttlebug and Nestabilities dies. The word 'Notes' was cut using the Tim Holtz - Chip Block - decorative strip die.

MINI CLIPBOARDS
To make the clipboards, cut a piece of chipboard 3¾" x 4½"  and cover with paper.  Cover a mini bulldog clip with matching paper (I find using double sided tape the easiest).  Tape the calendar to the covered chipboard base and add your decorated clip to the top.  Tie matching ribbon to your clip and decorate the bottom of the calendar as desired.
The notepad is made using a pad of sticky notes and covering with plain or embossed card.  The sentiment 'A little note' is computer generated using 'Sophie' font and if you don't tape the notepad to the clipboard (just use the clip) you can replace it when it's all used up!

The little tags (tied around the top of the bags) were punched out with Stampin Up's Jewellery tag punch and the 'hand crafted' is from the Tiny Tags stamp set (I really love that set) It's stamped with Chocolate Chip ink.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope to be back soon with some cards and maybe a mini book....!

Take care :)

Teacher Gift and handmade bag

There's a lot of photos....

Altered Bag

Scrunched Flower

Caleb's teacher has been off school for a couple of months and we didn't think she would be back before the end of term but he came home from school on Friday and said she would be there on Monday!

I didn't have a gift for her (and because Caleb likes her so much) I had to rustle this up very quickly at the weekend. I didn't have time to make a bag but I had some plain brown paper bags and altered one with matching papers. The back of the bag is the same as the front without the flower.

I used the same paper and die cuts that are listed in yesterday's post :)

Take care and thanks for stopping by today!

Altered Notebooks

Original plain pink notebook

Notebook with green down the side

Birthdays again!

It's two of Lydia's friends' birthdays and they're just a day apart.  She was to bring the gifts to school today but she stubbed her toe yesterday and after a quick x-ray at hospital this morning it shows she has fractured it!  Looks like she'll be a bit late with the presents :(

I found these little notebooks in Tesco a long time ago and I wish I had bought more.  They are a lovely size (slightly bigger than A6) and are perfect for altering.

Supplies
Cardstock - DCWV green, plain white, plain pink
Designer paper - K&Co Greenhouse, Papermania Designer Card (using the front cut off)
Stamps - Unity, Kaisercraft
Ink - Versacolor Opera Pink
Whispers pens - pink, black (for doodling)
Ribbons - Fuschia, pink spot organza
Die cuts - Papermania butterflies
Punch - Medium Retro Flower EKS
Gems & Stickles glitter glue

Have a lovely day! x

More Little Notebooks

Mum and Dad are going to Australia on Wednesday, so Mum asked me to cover some notebooks for her to give as little gifts to friends.  As I love doing these it was no chore and a lovely excuse to leave the housework!

They look very shiny in the photo but it's just the small cello bags I put them in to protect them. They are made using a variety of craft materials - rub-ons, stamps, chipboard, ribbons, buttons etc.

Hope you're all having a lovely Easter :)  I'm spending it clearing up my craft space (long overdue) there's still christmas paper on my table.....

See you soon :)

Covered Notebook & Matching Card

This was a plain little notebook and pen I bought in Tesco (bought loads, I love them so much!) and decorated with some My Minds Eye designer paper.  The flowers are punched with the retro flower punch from EK Success.  The ribbon is American crafts.

The matching thank you card is 10 x 10cms and the DP is cut with a nestabilities die and the sentiment is by Daisy Bucket.  The corners on the card were rounded with the WRMK corner chomper 1/2" size.

Thanks for visiting!

I love these little box bags!

I love these little box bags and they're the perfect size to fit an altered notebook and a treat box. Perfect little gift for someone :)

The punched flower is by Whale of a Punch and is the retro flower. The smaller flower is an xcut flower punch and the brad is papermania pearl. The pine branches are a McGill punch.

Another little notepad

This is another little notepad made with the Bind it all (see post below). The only differences with this is that I used a post it note pad instead of a plain notepad and the dimensions are smaller.

The paper is Basic Grey Scarlett's Letter collection - Glance

I cut the chipboard to 3.5" x 3.5" but I think it's a bit too short for the notepad. I also used larger white Owires.

The flowers are from Green Tara and the leaves were punched with a McGill punch.

The chipboard bookplate was cut with a Sizzix die using the cuttlebug. The word 'notes' was again cut with the Craft Robo (I love it because I can get such small letters in any font I like :) from red card.

I used wide satin ribbon and it's fraying at the edges but as it's just for me I don't mind! To stop this happening I would run a little fabric glue along the edge.

Bind it all Notepad and pen

Close up of Glossy Accents

Inside Pages

I quickly made this little notepad with the Bind it all.

I made 2 chipboard coasters cut to size (4" x 4") and covered with Papermania Antique Cream paper. Punched the holes with the Bind it all and secured them together with brown Owires.

The notepaper inside is from a small notepad and attached with strong double sided tape (I didn't punch it with the bind it all).

The word 'notes' is cut with the Craft Robo and covered with glossy accents.

The little flower is punched with an xcut punch and an antique brad in the centre all secured with glossy accents.

The chipboard flourish is cut with a cuttlebug die (can't remember the name!) and the ribbon is organza and satin spot from my stash.

The pen is a regular black pen covered with matching paper and tied with a narrow ribbon.

This was made to give as a gift, so I'm off now to make one for myself (can never find a notepad when I need one!!)
