March scrap map - tiger teeth!

Good morning!

Can you believe it's the beginning of March already?
That means a new monthly challenge at Creative Craft World and we have
a brand new sketch for you to have a go at making a scrap page or card.

We're also having another blog hop so if you'd like to join in, just visit each of the DT and leave a comment to say you've visited and you'll be entered into a draw for a prize.

You don't have to enter the challenge to be eligible but if you do link up your project to the challenge
you have the chance to win a fab scrap kit and a guest design spot.
All the details are HERE.

Here's my take on the sketch

I used MME 'Alphabet Soup Boy' papers and I was delighted that the colours of Phoebe's jumper matched them - stripes and all!
Phoebe was always asking to have her face painted and on this particular day Lydia took great delight in painting her as a tiger.  I think she did a great job!

The metal gromlet is from WRMK and the tiny buttons are Fancy Pants.

As I had my sewing machine out for another project (and any excuse to sew ;)) I stitched a short zig zag line on 2 sides of the frame.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the sketch
and to continue on with the blog hop you'll find Sarah W's page HERE.

Thank you for visiting today
and I'll be round to visit you all later :)
The children are going swimming with their grandparents so I'll have a couple of hours peace :)

Have a lovely weekend.
Take care,
Sarah xx

Blog hop this month at CCW!

Hello again,

As it's the beginning of February we have another scrap map challenge at Creative Craft World
and today we are having a blog hop too!
There will be a prize for one reader who visits each of our blogs this month and leaves a comment, just to let us know you've visited.

And as usual there is the fabulous prize of a CCW kit, GDT spot and a generous shop discount for the winner of this month's scrap map challenge.
You can enter with a scrapbook page or a card!!
So have a look at the sketch and find all the details on how to enter HERE.

For those taking part in the hop, you will have made it here from Mel's blog.

For my page this month I've used a photo of my eldest daughter Lydia, taken when she was almost 3.
As she will be 16 in a few weeks time we have been reminiscing about her baby days and pulled out the old photo albums.
She was our only child until she was seven and was definitely our little princess :)

I used pale yellow Bazzill card for the base and the patterned paper is
K&Co 'Greenhouse collection''

The 'princess' title is Me and my Big Ideas gemstones

I added matching butterfly rub-ons to the top of the page and turquoise dew drops down the right hand side of the page.

I love to add hidden journaling to my pages so I made this tag to slip behind the photo.
I haven't added the journaling yet as I want to keep it personal just for Lydia.

Now you've seen my page it's time to hop on over to Sarah W's blog.

Here's the complete list just in case you get lost!

Thank you for visiting today and I look forward to seeing what you do with the scrap map!
Don't forget.... from now on you can enter with a card or scrapbook page.
Take care and have a lovely weekend.

A New Year and a new scrap map at Creative Craft World

Good Morning!

Happy New Year to you all...a bit late I know...
I have quite a lot of catching up to do with everyone!

Today we have a new scrap map at Creative Craft World
and this is the page I've made.
It's been 3 weeks since I put paper and glue together so my mojo is a bit rusty.

The Christmas words are on a vellum sheet which I layered over white dotted Bazzill card.
The baubles are cut with the Silhouette and the top of the large bauble comes out to reveal a journaling spot (no photo of it yet)

The photo was taken 9 days before Christmas Eve when the children went to see
Santa at a National Trust event.
I took a lot of photos of their adventure so I made a little book (adhered to the large bauble)
to put all the photos in to complete the story.

The night started with a story from Ma Christmas in the tea rooms (while having juice & a treat).
Then they walked to the elves' house and made magic reindeer food.
When they finished that, they were picked up by horse and carriage and taken to the 'big' house to meet Santa.
His sleigh was parked outside and you can just imagine the excitement as the children saw it!
Inside the large hall they could just see Santa in the distance sleeping in his chair so they were allowed to creep up and wake him.
He had a list with all their names and had a chat with them before giving them their presents.
It was a truly magical night (for us 'big' ones as well!)

I do apologise for neglecting my blog for so long
but with the children back to school next week I should be back here again too :)

Thank you for stopping by today and do take a minute to visit
CCW and see all the gorgeous pages the rest of the DT have made.
Here is the sketch for this month and you can enter the challenge by using the sketch as your starting point for a page and then link it up to the blog here.
If you win you'll get a fabulous scrapbook kit, a generous discount instore and a Guest Design spot.

and that's it!
See you soon,
Sarah xx

Scrapbook challenge at CCW

Hello again!

It's time for a new scrapbook challenge at Creative Craft World
and we have a lovely sketch from Sue.

This is my take on it using Cosmo Cricket 'Happy Trails' paper.
I layered it on brown Bazzill card and zig zag stitched around the edge of the green paper.
I also stitched the strips of paper at the top and bottom with messy straight stitched lines.
Regular readers of my blog will know that we got a new puppy in June just as the children were finishing school for the summer holidays.
So.... 6 months on, I thought it was about time I did a scrapbook page about him.
My friends were shocked that I agreed to the children having a dog
(I was definitely not a dog lover) but this wee rascal has stolen my heart :)

I must tell you the story about how he came to us.
I was looking on Gumtree for a small puppy and I came across an ad for a little Lhasa Apso/Yorkie pup who was ready to be homed.  I contacted the owner who had another buyer interested so we had to wait to see if he would be available to us or not.
After a couple of days we got a phone call to say the puppy was ours and she could bring him to us that evening.
When she arrived, she brought in a little bundle of fur and we were smitten.
While we were talking I was convinced I had seen her somewhere before.
After going through different places we might have met, nothing rang a bell.
She showed us a picture of her wee son and I knew I had seen him somewhere before.
Somehow the conversation turned to crafting and she said, "my mum teaches craft classes"
She said her mum was Linda Walker, and then the penny dropped.
I am a follower of her mum's blog and her mum had posted wedding pictures and that's how I recognised her and her son!
It's a small world.....

To make the page I used the Silhouette Cameo
and here's a screen shot of how I did it.
I like to crop my photos using the Studio software and arrange them on the page.
That way I know exactly what size they will be and then I can fiddle about with the arrangement.
Then I will just print them out and cut them with the guillotine if there are straight edges and other times I will cut them out with the Cameo.

I used print and cut for the journaling printing it on matching patterned paper.
Then I inked the edges with 'Tea Dye' distress ink.
I love the little bone paper clip that I found in my stash - I knew I'd find a use for it one day!

I cut the title from brown card and added a little paw print brad at the top of the photo.

Instead of tying thread through my buttons
I cut a sliver of paper, threaded it through and taped it at the back.
Quick and easy!!

We'd love to see what you do with the sketch so why not link up your scrapbook page HERE.
You'll find all the details of the challenge there too.

I'm afraid that was a long post today!
Thank you for visiting and if you come back tomorrow I will have the link
Sue's blog where she has made some reindeer noses for the Christmas countdown.

I'm off now to nurse my poor wee daughter Phoebe.
Yesterday morning she erupted in lots of spots - chickenpox!
Thanks goodness for Calamine cream Doublebase gel :)

Take care and have a lovely weekend.

Monthy scrapbook challenge

Good morning!

I hope you're keeping well :)

The past couple of weeks have been so busy here.
My youngest brother and his family came over from Australia for a short holiday and it has been brilliant to catch up.
I've met my 2 nephews and baby niece for the first time!
It's such a pity they return home today, but they're already planning another trip over next year for Christmas.

I'm just popping in today with my scrapbook page for the new challenge at Creative Craft World this month.

I feel as if I'm always scrapping my younger two but Lydia always disappears when there is a camera about, so I don't have many photos of her. I managed to sneak this one when she was off guard.....it was taken in the spring when we had a picnic for my Dad's birthday.

The papers are Crate Paper Bliss and I kept the embellishments quite simple.
The flourish is by Prima and it's all layered on Bazzill french vanilla cardstock.

The scrap map

I made a little journalling tag to slip behind the photo.  Still to fill it in though!

I tried to think of a fun title but all that came to mind was Hippie Chick....
I knew Lydia wouldn't appreciate it so I went for her age instead.
It's cut out with the Silhouette Cameo from pink Bazzill dot card.
The little wooden hearts are by Studio Calico and I coloured them with a pink Copic marker.

For all the details of the scrap map challenge at Creative Craft World click here
and you can find more inspiration from the design team too!

Thank you so much for joining me here today.
I will be back on Monday with a new project
but for today I'm off to the airport to say goodbye.....

Have a lovely weekend
and take care :)

Scrapbook page - Back to School

Good morning!

I hope you're having a lovely weekend.  The weather here has been great this week -
just typical back to school weather!

Our scrap map challenge at Creative Craft World was postponed for a week, due to the birthday blog hop we had.
Thank you so much to everyone who took part and thank you too for all the comments on my blog.
I loved reading them :) I'd like to say a  big 'hello' to my new followers too, not just from the blog hop but to those of you who signed up during the summer months too!

Well, today we have a fabulous sketch from Sue and it would be wonderful
if you could join us in the scrapbook challenge this month.
The winner is chosen by the DT and gets a fab prize, a generous discount in the shop and a GDT spot for the next challenge!

This is my take on the scrap map.

Regular readers of my blog will have seen this photo before... I posted it on the children's first day back at school.  How difficult is it to get two children to look at the camera at the same time?
I took lots of photos and I still didn't manage it.....  lol
I made a little mini book for more photos and hidden journaling and tied it closed with twine and a little owl charm.

The patterned papers are DCWV 'school days' I think and I've had them for ages.
For the 'chalkboard' I cut a 10" square from pepper bazzill swiss dot paper and distressed the edges.
Then I dabbed along the edges and swiped across the front of the card with a white paint dabber.
Using Elzybells white pigment ink I stamped TPC Studio 'teacher' stamps all over the black card (stamping off on scrap card first) to make it appear 'chalked'.

This is the inside of the wee book and it has individual photos of each child and a little bit of journaling. (some of the details I've kept private)

The large WRMK brads were a real bargain I got ages ago but I always knew they'd come in handy some day!

The title was cut from a sheet of matching paper and I created a string line across the chalkboard and attached the card card to it with a patterned peg from Making Memories.

You'll find the scrap map for Creative Craft World here.
I hope it inspires you to take part in the challenge.

Thanks for popping in today
and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Take care
Sarah xx

I'd like to enter this in MIM linky party.

New scrap map at CCW

Hello again!

Oh dear, I'm not much good at blogging in the summer......
At the minute I've come down with the flu so I'm writing this post in fits and starts.

As it's the first Saturday in the month (can you believe it's August already!!) we have a new scrap map challenge at Creative Craft World.

This is my take on the sketch

I used the 'Echo Park Hello Summer' kit and for once I didn't use my Cameo!
I tried to do some paint splatters (lol) with pink paint but I think more of it ended up on my poor laptop than on the page....

The sketch

I cut nine 1½" squares from 5 sheets of the double sided papers and inked the edges with antique linen distress ink. After adhering them to the page I added various sized buttons from Fancy Pants.

The photo is of  Phoebe crossing a wooden bridge at a beauty spot near our home.  She was petrified of the water rushing underneath it so Caleb crossed first and encouraged her from the other side.
I can remember being afraid of this same bridge as a child and I'm still not keen on crossing it now!

The banner underneath the photo and the sentiments are stickers from the Echo Park kit.

The title is also made with stickers from the kit and I added a doodled string with black pen.  I pierced holes at the 'ends' of the string and put red brads through to 'pin' the string to the page.
To frame the whole page I added faux stitching ¼" from the edge using my Tim Holtz ruler as a guide.

I haven't got round to adding the journaling to the page yet but I made this tag to hide behind the photo.  I cut one of the journaling tags from a sheet of paper in the kit and matted it on to green card.  Using my SU tab punch, I punched a tab from the chevron paper and taped it to the top of the tag.  I hand cut a heart and added 2 mini gems for a little bit of bling!

Don't forget there's still time to enter the mini monochrome challenge at CCW too.
You can find it here.

Thank you for coming to visit my blog today,
I can't promise I'll be back soon but I will be back as soon as I can :)
I hope you have a great weekend!

Scrapbook page for Creative Craft World

Good morning!

It's the first Saturday of April and there's a new challenge at

Take at peek at this month's sketch

I still get butterflies in my stomach when I see a big blank page and wonder how on earth I am going to fill it.

I must admit that although I had reservations about the sketch, once I got started...
I loved it.

I used DCWV Green Stack papers for this layout.
The coloured brads on each corner are by Papermania and I was trying to give the effect of
the layout being pinned to the tree background.

The little owl on the branch was cut out from a separate sheet of paper.

I cut the cloud shape with the Silhouette Cameo and machine stitched around the outside.
The word 'girls' was also cut with the Cameo.

Now, I do have to clarify that Lydia is not in the habit of walking around holding her Dad's hand but she was happy to oblige for the photo :)

'At least', she says
'you can't see my face' lol

We would love you to join in with our challenge and
take a minute to have a look
at the fabulous layouts the other ladies in the Design Team have made :)

Thanks for visiting my blog today.
See you soon.

Mother's Day

Good morning!
Hope you're all well :)

I was browsing the challenge blogs yesterday to try and get some ideas for a card for Mother's Day for my Mum.  This is way off the mark though as she doesn't like 'fussy' cards.....
but I hope she'll make an exception with this one :)
I couldn't help myself once I got started.....

The theme over at Sweet Stampin' is Layers with the option to use a sketch......which I did :)
I combined it with the challenge at Bunny Zoe's which is shabby chic/vintage. It's not my usual style so I hope it's ok!
Over at Papertake Weekly it's for girls/ or mum's.
At Creative Inspirations it's something for mum.
Celebrate the Occasion are looking for any occasion but you must use metal. I've used metal rose brads from American Crafts.
It's tic tac toe at Incy Wincy Designs,  I've used a  handmade flower, 2+ designer papers and sewing.
Make it Monday linky party have anything goes
and at Lili of the Valley it's ribbon and lace - hope I'm not too late for this one :)

The teddy bouquet image is stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and coloured with Copics.

Bear - E51, E31, E33......Flowers - R32, R85
Wrapping, ribbon & ground- YG91, YG95, BG93, BG96

The papers are SU Springtime Vintage and the layers are machine stitched with off white thread.
I made the flower by cutting a rough spiral from pink paper and rolling it, then letting it loosely unwind and adding a metal brad (American Crafts Dear Lizzy collection) to the centre.
The lace is from Creative Treasures

The butterfly is Martha Stewart and the flourishes are Marianne Creatables.
It's all layered on SU naturals cardstock cut to a 6"x6" card base.

Thank you for stopping by!

I'll be back tomorrow with....I don't know yet.....
possibly some sewing!
I made a tote bag on Saturday in the same fabric as the baby quilt.

Take care :)

Edited to add:  I needn't have worried about it being too fussy! Mum loved the card :)

Scrapbook page for CCW (March) Scrap Map

Good Morning!
Well.....we're into March and as it's the first Saturday of the month it's time for a new scrap map challenge at Creative Craft World.
The sketch this month has a heart theme, which for me is perfect for Mother's Day :)

If you've never scrapbooked before I would urge you to give it a try ~ I'm just starting out and I really enjoy it.  To enter the challenge all you have to do is use the sketch for guidance and you can use any papers/embellishments you like!  If you like a kit, you can buy a monthly one here and at under £10 it's excellent value :)

I decided to make this page about my Mum who is just the best! She's always there to help and is especially good at ironing ;) .........thanks Mum!

The papers are Bo Bunny -  'Sophie'.  I distressed the base paper around the edges and inked with vintage photo distress ink. The hearts and title are cut with the Cameo and the hearts were distressed the same as the page.
I added pearls near the bottom of each heart and a seam binding bow to the largest heart.

The chipboard flower is from the same Bo Bunny range and I added pearls to the centre for some dimension. The flowers underneath are Green Tara and are inked with vintage photo distress ink. The pin is from my stash and I tied pink seam binding at the top of it.

The lace ribbon was sent to me by my lovely friend Meryl in Australia and this was the last little bit of it.  I inked it with distress ink as well and used glue dots to hold the folds in place. The butterfly is from the same chipboard pack as the flower and I added pearls to it as well....can you tell I like pearls yet?? lol

If you're reading this and it's before 9am in the morning then that's good ~ it means the blog scheduling worked! and I should still be in the land of nod.... I hope :)
I've warned the children that I would really like to wake up naturally ......not by having my face squeezed and asked if it's morning and is it time to get up yet!!

Have a lovely day whatever you're doing :)
Take care
Sarah xx

CCW - February Scrap Map challenge

Good Morning.........Well here goes!..........It's my first contribution to the DT at Creative Craft World and it's for the February scrap map challenge. I love this sketch and while I'm still getting to grips with 12x12 pages I enjoyed the challenge :)  Why not pop over and add your entry to be in with a chance to win a prize this month.

As Valentine's day is this month, you'd think I'd use a picture of hubby....well, I would if I had any decent ones lol.  So I've used the next best thing - my little ones :)

Everything on the page is cut out with the Cameo but could easily be cut by hand.  I popped the red heart on dimensionals and covered it with glossy accents.

For these hearts I added a cross stitch to the centre of each to represent a kiss for each child :) The doodled dots were added with an Inkssentials white pen.

These hearts are layered and hand stitched down the middle. I think they look a little like butterflies...

It wouldn't be complete without a bit of bling so I added clear adhesive gems to the centre of all the dots!

The papers I used on this page are from the 'Yours truly' collection by Echo Park.

Thank you for visiting today!
Take care :)
