Sympathy card.

Good morning!

It's turned very cold and wet here, so it's time for the winter woollies I think!

I'm back this morning with a card to share and I always find these ones difficult.
It's a sympathy card for a friend whose husband died suddenly.

I made a 12cm card blank and using an extra square of white card, I stamped the flower using a Unity stamp.  I coloured the leaf with Copic markers and added tiny green gems to the circles.
Then I wrapped some SU ribbon around it and placed the sentiment (computer generated) on top with foam pads.  I added this square to the card front with double sided tape.
Then finished with a printed insert on the inside.

Thank you for visiting today
and I'll be back on Saturday with 4 projects using CCW's October mini kit.

Take care

An Owl card

Arrrgh, the tummy bug left Phoebe and now Caleb has it.....he's blaming Phoebe for kissing him on the lips 2 weeks ago...of course she says she didn't and so the argument goes on and on and on and on....lol.  The weather here has been miserable too, it has rained hard all weekend and today it's been so windy it's blown our full to bursting wheelie bin over twice!  Richard had to run down the road picking up bags of rubbish as they blew away....lol.  Fortunately the bin lorry came shortly after :)

I made this notecard a wee while ago but am only getting it uploaded now.

The owl is a Unity stamp...I think it was part of a Kit of the Month.
I stamped and watercoloured it and stamped an extra set of eyes, cut them out and layered on top. I added glossy accents to the pupils and the spots on its front. The sentiment is a Papermania 'Honey & Hugs' stamp and the textured base is DCWV green card from the Christmas stack.

Thanks for stopping by today and thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. I really appreciate your support!

Have a Happy Day

I'm late again for the Clean and Simple sketch this week!  Here is FTL 103

and this is what I made

I love these little birds :)

The stamps used are Unity and I used Stampin Up's Stamp-a-ma-jig to place them.  The folded paper down the side is by Daisy Bucket and the string in the button is coloured with Victorian Velvet distress inks to match the sentiment.

The background of the card is embossed with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder and inked with Pumice Stone distress ink. The birds are coloured with distress inks as well.

Have a lovely day :)

Gift Bag ~ Thanks

This little gift bag is a smaller version of the one I posted yesterday.  The finished size is 18cms wide, 11cms tall and 8cms deep.  The stamps ~ flower, bird and word are all Unity and the inks are Versacolor pigment ~ fresh green and amethyst.  I cut the tag using the Quickcutz tag die.  The purple gems are Papermania and the handles of the bag are white raffia.

The Inside of the bag
When I make these bags, depending on the weight of the gift to go inside, I put a matching piece of card or paper along the bottom for added strength and to cover the joins. The bottom of this bag was covered with amethyst paper as the gifts to go inside are very light.

Take care :)

Baby Girl Gift Set

There seems to be a baby boom all of a sudden!  I have 4 baby gifts to make, 2 for girls and 2 for boys.  I like to give personalised altered photo albums so I'll be posting a few over the next couple of days!

Baby Girl Card
The little giraffe is made by Woodware and is stamped using pink paint, then cut out and raised on foam pads.  The glitter detail around the edge of the circle and on the giraffe is stardust Stickles glitter glue. The dots are White Opal liquid pearls.

Altered Photo Album

The chipboard letters are cut with Sizzix alphabet dies ~ Slim, and painted with Anita's baby pink paint.  I cut a piece of vellum with a Labels 4 Nestablilities die and painted the edges with pink.  I then glued the letters to the vellum and attached it all to the album by putting tiny dots of glue behind the letters so when it is stuck on, you can't see the glue through the vellum.
The swirls are cut with a Marianne Creatables die (which my lovely friend Meryl sent home with Mum & Dad from Australia) I love these little dies ~ you can cut and emboss with them at the same time. The flowers are Green Tara and I edged them with stardust stickles.

 Gift Bag
The bag is made from 2 sheets of A4 cardstock. After scoring the card, I stamped (Unity) flowers all along the bottom edge using grass green & opera pink versacolor inks.  The giraffe is stamped with the pink ink on spare card and cut out before gluing to the front of the bag.  The butterfly (Unity again!) is stamped twice on spare card in the two inks and cut out.  The green butterfly is glued flat on the bag and the pink one is glued along the centre only and the wings lifted up.  Detail is added with white opal liquid pearls.  The tag is made by cutting a circle in spare card edging it with pink ink and stamping using Studio G baby stamps.

Centre of the Flowers ~ Liquid Pearls
TIP:  If you don't like the little peaks left when using liquid pearls, if you gently flick the underside of the card with your finger the peaks should disappear!!

Milk Carton Box
I used an empty carton to make a template for this box.  The carton I had was too short so I adjusted the measurements to fit a 12"x12" page.  After scoring it, I used a nestabilities labels 8 die to draw around and cut it out with a craft knife (the page was too big to fit in the cuttlebug). I cut the frame using 2 dies and glued it to the front.  I cut a piece of acetate with a larger die in the set and taped it behind the frame. Then I stamped the flowers around the bottom the same as the bag and also the butterfly and giraffe.

With this giraffe I cut off the stamped mane and added some fibres to add texture :)  I also added glossy accents to all his spots but it doesn't show in the photo.

The Complete Set

Thank you for taking the time to stop by today. I didn't intend for it to be such a long post!!
If you'd like the dimensons of the bag or box, just email me and I'll be happy to send them to you :)

Altered Notebooks

Original plain pink notebook

Notebook with green down the side

Birthdays again!

It's two of Lydia's friends' birthdays and they're just a day apart.  She was to bring the gifts to school today but she stubbed her toe yesterday and after a quick x-ray at hospital this morning it shows she has fractured it!  Looks like she'll be a bit late with the presents :(

I found these little notebooks in Tesco a long time ago and I wish I had bought more.  They are a lovely size (slightly bigger than A6) and are perfect for altering.

Sympathy Card

There are some things in life that are always difficult and I find making sympathy cards one of them.

My Uncle died last night and although he has been unwell for a while it was still a shock.  I made this to send to my Auntie as I won't get to see her for a while, unfortunately.

I have been waiting for ages for my April Unity KOTM (must have got held up with all the flight chaos)

It finally came this morning and these stamps were in it - perfect for what I needed. :) The flowers were die cut from white card with a Sizzix die and I embossed a line along the back of each petal to add detail. Then sponged them with turquoise Versacolor ink, the petals were curled up slightly and then layered together.  The ribbon is simple organza.

See you soon.  xx

Stamped Butterfly

I love pink and black together and because it's for a teenage birthday, I added some bling to the butterfly!
The ribbon is from Poppicrafts (which has sadly closed down) and the butterfly is a Unity stamp.  I lifted the wings slightly and curled them under by rolling the edges over an embossing stylus (you could also use a pencil) then I put some silicone glue underneath to keep them from flattening.  The sentiment is a stamp from Elzybells - I love it for it suits a lot of occasions :)

Have a lovely day!

2nd Birthday ~ Boy card

It's my little nephew's 2nd birthday soon and as he lives in Australia I've never met him.... maybe one day I will though :)

I made this simple little card using blue cardstock, and embossing the front using the Cuttlebug Argyle embossing folder. The green card is Bazzill embossed dots and the image is a Unity stamp (again!) which I paper pieced using a scrap of striped paper. Three little brads were added  to the white cardstock and the edges of all the white card were inked with Ice Blue chalk ink.  The sentiment is computer generated using 'My Own Topher' font.

Close up of the whale. I coloured the water spouts with a Sakura Glaze pen to give a little shine.

See you soon. xx

Mother's Day card for Mum

Hi again!

Sorry I've been so lax in updating my blog but the truth is I've been so tired and unwell, I haven't been able to do much crafting.  I've had some blood tests done and it turns out I'm very anaemic and need an iron infusion at hospital some time soon. Hopefully that give me the boost I need!

I did manage to make this card for Mum for Mother's Day. She's always there for me and I love her to bits.

The image is a Unity stamp coloured with Koh-i-noor Pencils and Sansodor Oil. The double sided designer paper is by Memory Box and the retro flowers are punched (using the other side of the paper) and a brad pushed through the centre.  The fern leaves are punched with a McGill punch and the sentiment is from Elzybells.  The green strip is Bazzill embossed dots card and the edges are punched with a Martha Stewart scallop dot edger punch.

Lydia's 13th Birthday Cards

I can't quite believe that Lydia is a teenager today!

I was last minute as usual making her cards, I finished the one from Caleb and Phoebe in the early hours of this morning..... Inspired by my cousin Vicky's Blog, I blew the dust off my sewing machine and got a bit carried away sewing everything!  I made a matching bag for Lydia's present and sewed it too.  I do love the way the card turned out and I think I'll be using stitching on a few more projects.

It's funny how times have changed, for my 13th birthday I got my sewing machine :) but in those days we did 'Needlework' at school.  I think it's sad that those skills are not taught now......I'm beginning to feel ancient!! lol.

Close up of pleating

The card from Caleb and Phoebe - image is a Unity stamp which I paper pieced.

I also made this little bag to hold her present

This is what she asked for - lots of sparkle!

Engagement

An engagement card today.

I used pink card from the Paper Mill, green bazzill card, a Unity heart stamp, ribbon and small button from Poppicrafts and some stickles glitter glue to add some sparkle.  The 'love' stamp is Clear Expressions (I think!)

I think it could also be used as a Valentines card....

I was to make a bag to put the gift in as well but the bag was a little too narrow, so Mum bought a plain bag and I'll decorate it.

Thanks for visiting :)

Birthday card - Male variety!

Hi again!

I made this card very quickly yesterday so that Richard could catch the last post at 4 o'clock. It's for my Father-in-Law's birthday today, so I hope he gets it in time.

The patterned paper is Basic Grey and the blue card is DCWV.  I distressed the edges with Tim Holtz distress ink - 'old paper' and stamped the bicycle image (Unity Stamps) using 'frayed burlap'.  I stamped the image again and cut out the wheels and seat.  Coloured the seat with 'fired brick' and popped it and the wheels up with foam pads.

Treat bag

You might need sunglasses to look at this it's so bright!

It is a little box with handles, so could it be called a box bag? It's made from a sheet of card, scored, cut and folded to make a box. Then add ribbon handles and decorate. I cut the words 'for you' with the Craft Robo.

Thanks for looking!
